Un-BOO-lievably Fun Eco-Friendly Halloween Crafts

Halloween is just around the corner, and it's time to get creative with some spook-tacular crafts! But instead of opting for plastic, mass-produced decorations, why not make this Halloween both fun and eco-friendly? At Mimi & Lula, we love a chance to combine creativity with sustainability. This year, we’re focusing on nature-inspired, eco-friendly crafts that the little ones will love, while giving our planet some love too. 🎃✨

From spooky nature walks to transforming household recyclables, here are some un-BOO-lievably fun ways to celebrate Halloween with a touch of green.

What you’ll need:
- Pinecones (collected from nature)
- Non-toxic glue
- White paper for the fangs
- Cardboard for the wings and ears (cereal boxes are the ideal thickness)
- Googly eyes (or use paper cut-outs)
Head out for a nature walk with the kids to collect pinecones for your bat creations. If you want to make it extra spooky, you can paint the pinecones black using eco-friendly paint. Draw out the wings, and ears on the cardboard and cut out - attaching them with glue to the pinecone. Add some googly eyes or cut out some paper eyes and glue them on for a creepy (but cute!) bat friend.
    What you’ll need:
    - Leaves (collected from your garden or park)
    - White paint
    - String or garden twine
    - Non-toxic markers
    - Mini Wooden Pegs (not essential)
Turn crunchy autumn leaves into spooky little ghosts by painting them white! Once dry, draw on some scary (or silly!) ghost faces with markers. String them together using twine, and voila — you have a haunted ghost garland made from 100% nature! Hang these around the house for a touch of homemade Halloween magic.
      What you’ll need:
      - Smooth stones or rocks
      - Eco-friendly paints (in halloween colours)
      - Non-toxic markers
Collect smooth stones from your local park or garden, and turn them into pumpkins, skeletons, or even monsters! Using eco-friendly paint, cover the rocks in any design. For a spookier vibe, you can use markers to draw funny jack-o'-lantern faces on them, or skeleton bones. These painted rocks make excellent eco-friendly decorations, and they can be reused for many Halloweens to come!
        What you’ll need:
        - An old egg box
        - Black Paint
        - Googly eyes
        - Twigs for the legs
This Halloween, gather up your egg boxes and transform them into spooky little spiders. Paint the egg box black, then when it has dried, cut away each of the cells from the box. Attach the googly eyes, and head out for a walk to collect little sticks that look like spiders legs. Use a small knife to cut 6 small holes in the side of the spider body - this is a job for a parent or an older child - be careful. Make sure the hole is large enough for your twig leg, and then poke them through.
These mini spiders can be placed around the house or hung up with some string for extra spookiness.
