5 Fun & Easy Easter Crafts to Make with the Kids

Hello lovely mamas!

Easter is hopping closer (see what we did there?), and if you’re anything like us, you're looking for ways to keep the little ones busy and bring a bit of springtime joy into the home. So, from the mums at Mimi & Lula to you, here are 5 super simple, super fun Easter crafts you can make using things you may already have at home.

And of course, we’ve popped in a few of our favourite picks from our Easter collection to make things extra special and sparkly!

This one’s a golden oldie - salt dough is super simple to make, and decorating your own Easter egg decorations is such a lovely way to spend an afternoon (preferably with hot cross buns on standby).

Here’s our foolproof salt dough recipe:

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup plain flour

  • ½ cup salt

  • ½ cup water (add slowly – you might not need it all!)

How to make it:

  1. Mix the flour and salt together in a bowl.

  2. Slowly add water while mixing until you get a smooth dough. If it’s too sticky, just add a touch more flour.

  3. Roll out the dough (like biscuit dough!) and use an egg-shaped cookie cutter - or shape by hand - to cut out your eggs.

  4. Don’t forget to use a straw or skewer to poke a hole at the top if you want to hang them later!

  5. Bake at a low temp (around 100°C) for 2–3 hours until completely dry and hard. Let them cool before decorating.

Then it’s time for the fun bit! Let the kids go wild with paints, glitter, stickers - whatever you’ve got lying around.

Finish by tying with string or ribbon and hang on an indoor Easter tree, mantlepiece or doorknobs. They make gorgeous keepsakes too.

A super simple and seriously fun way to decorate for Easter! Just cut egg shapes out of card (old cereal boxes are perfect!), then let the kids go wild painting and decorating them with bright colours, glitter, or stickers. Once dry, glue them onto a paper plate ring or a cardboard circle to create your wreath.

Add a ribbon to hang it up and you’ve got yourself a handmade masterpiece!

This one’s as cute as it gets! Simply draw around your little one’s hand on a piece of paper or card, cut it out, and turn the fingers into bunny ears cutting the middle finger off and folding down and little finger and thumb to create the arms. Add a sweet bunny face with pens or crayons - googly eyes and a pom-pom nose if you’re feeling fancy!

Who knew loo rolls could be this lovely? Flatten down a toilet roll and draw out the silhouette of a tulip ensuring the leaves and edge of the petals will stay in tact once cut out. Then simply cut them out and paint in bright spring colours. Make a whole bunch for a blooming beautiful bouquet!

Got an odd sock lying around? (We all do!) Fill it with rice or lentils, tie it off with string to make a round body and a smaller head, then snip the top into bunny ears. Add a little face with marker or stick-on eyes, and tie a ribbon around the neck - instant bunny friend!

So simple, so sweet, and no sewing required!

So there you have it - five easy Easter crafts to make with the little ones, using bits and bobs you’ve already got lying around (plus a touch of Mimi & Lula magic, of course!).
