Easter crafting for your little chicks!

Looking for something to entertain the little ones this Easter break? We've tried and tested lots of crafting ideas with our mini me's so we could pick out our five favourites to share with you all!

Simple, but effective, fun but not overly fancy was the order of the day... perfect for a stress-free Easter break!

We hope you have fun making your favourite!

Happy Hand Chicks

Perfect for the little ones but good fun for older children too! You could print these onto some folded A4 card for a super sweet Easter card for friends or family. Or add some googly eyes for even more fun!

Fairly self explanatory, all you need is some paper or card, yellow paint, orange pen or paint and some willing hands!

Super simple sock bunnies

A lovely activity for older children or for little ones with a hand from a grown up. And the best part is you have a seriously sweet little pal once you've finished!

You will need:

  • An old sock (the fluffier the better!)
  • Some rice to fill your 'bunny' with
  • Some string to tie up the body and head
  • Some scissors to cut the ankle part of the sock into two ears
  • Some extras to personalise your bunny... you may want to stitch or stick on goggly eyes, a ribbon for the neck, something pink for a nose, a pom pom tail or even some string whiskers!

Hanging salt dough Easter eggs

This is a great activity for any age and you can hang them up as decorations once you've finished! Best to make the shapes one day and paint another...

You will need:

  • 4 cups of plain flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1.5 cups of warm water
  • A straw to make the hole
  • Easter egg cutter (Hobbycraft and Amazon both have some of these in stock) or simply cut your own with a knife
  • Acrylic paint, PVA glue and glitter to decorate
  • Ribbon to hang

Simply mix the ingredients for the dough and knead for 5-10 minutes, roll out and cut the egg shape and hole. Bake at 120 degrees for 1-2 hours until dry and solid, turning over part way through. Once completely cool go ahead and decorate!

Pom Pom chicks

The sweetest little fluffy chicks! You can make a hook to hang these up when you're finished too!

You will need:

  • Yellow wool
  • 2 pieces of card (cut into a doughnut shape)
  • Scissors
  • Beads or goggly eyes
  • Orange felt or card for the beak and glue to secure

To make the pom pom, cut out two 'doughnut' shapes of card as shown below and begin wrapping the wool around until it is completely covered, the more layers you add, the fluffier the pom pom will be. Once you've finished, snip around the edge in between the two pieces of card and secure the pom pom using a length of wool tied in a tight knot between the two pieces of card then carefully remove the card.

Recycled bunny rabbits

You will need:

  • Empty toilet or kitchen roll (painted) or you can roll up and tape normal card for the body
  • A round piece of card for the face
  • Two little paws and two little ears cut from paper or card
  • A pen to draw the features and/or some goggly eyes!
  • String, straw or wool for the whiskers
  • Pom pom for the tail
  • Glue or double sided sticky tape to fix it all together!

Have fun and don't forget to tag us in any photos!!
