Top tips for an eggcellent Easter Egg Hunt!!

As a bunch of mums, we've hosted a fair few Easter egg hunts between us over here at Mimi and Lula HQ! So this year we thought it would be fun to put our heads together and come up with our top tips for hosting a super fun egg hunt to remember! We hope you enjoy reading!

1. Send every-bunny an invite!

We found some seriously sweet templates on Etsy for printing or just downloading, you could make your own or simply send a WhatsApp with a few emojis! Whether it's just for your own children or you're having all the extended family or friends, either way, they'll be so excited when you send your invite!

2. Hang up some Easter themed deccies!

We love any excuse to decorate! Welcome the freshness of spring into your home with some Easter theme bunting or garlands or go all out with an Easter wreath! You could make your own as a fun craft activity with little ones or pick up something ready made. Here's a few of our favourites...

3. Check the weather forecast!

Make a plan for an indoor alternative if mother nature is not on your side (we learnt this one the hard way!)

4. Find your baskets!

They don't have to be baskets, you can keep it simple with little sandcastle buckets, paper bags or treat them to one of our gorgeous Easter bunny baskets. The best part is you can use them year after year!

5. Decide what to hide!

Now the obvious choice is chocolate eggs but you could hide wooden solid or refillable eggs too. You could fill these with small chocolates, little hair accessories or use them as tokens to collect to win a prize at the end so they don't overdose on sugar along the way!

6. Make it fair for little ones

If you have a range of ages to accommodate here's some ideas on how to balance things out so the little ones don't end up frustrated...

  • Buddy little ones up with an older child
  • Make teams
  • Allocate each child a colour to collect so they all end up collecting the same amount
  • Divide all the collected eggs equally at the end
  • Bear in mind you'll need trickier, camouflaged hiding spots for the older children and easier to reach eggs for the little ones

7. Get hiding!

Just make sure nobody is peeking!

8. Pick your prizes!

If you're using wooden eggs to hide you'll need some treats at the end or along the way. Whilst some can be chocolates you might want to consider a few seasonal alternatives too to limit the sugar rush! Here's some top Easter picks of our very own to give you some inspo!
